Note to Parents: On Monday nights all summer our kids are gathering to play sports, study the Lord’s prayer, and have a lot of fun along the way. We invite your elementary aged child to not only come to the Nerf War but also any other Monday night that you are able to make it.

We invite you to Homecoming Sunday on June 8, 2025. Homecoming is a Sunday where we do a few things that are different from a normal Sunday:

- We remember those that we’ve lost during the last year who have gone to their true home to be with the Lord in Heaven. As much as we live in a home and love the city of Kings Mountain, as believers in Jesus, this is not our home. Our home is with Jesus in Heaven and one day we will all join those who have already passed.

- We welcome back to Patterson Grove those that grew up in the church and have moved away. Many people have children that now live in Gastonia, Cherryville, Charlotte, Shelby, or other cities and this Sunday is a chance for us to welcome them back.

- We enjoy a covered dish lunch after the service in the Family Life Center (ie the gym). Each family is asked to bring enough food for their family plus a little extra to bless another family. There is no cost and those who aren’t able or forget to bring food are 100% welcome to join us. If you are a first time guest, we have no expectation of you to bring anything. We are just glad you are here.

Get Fit 40 Day Challenge Thursdays at 9 AM | Patterson Grove Baptist Church Starting June 5, 2025

Whether you’re looking to improve your eating habits, increase your physical activity, strengthen your prayer life, or break free from unhealthy patterns, the Get Fit 40 Day Challenge is here to support and encourage you!

What to Expect

• Weekly Support & Accountability Meetings – Join us on Thursdays at 9 AM, June 5 – July 17, at Patterson Grove Baptist Church for encouragement, guidance, and structured goal-setting. (If you are unable to come to the on-sight meetings, you are encouraged to create your own personal 40-day goal. Highlights will be posted on the PG Facebook page. Everybody can commit to 40 days to a healthier you.)

• Personalized Health Insights – Billy Wease is offering a discounted Inbody body fat and muscle index assessment to all participants at his pharmacy in Gastonia. Call 704-867-3518 to schedule an appointment (offer valid through June 30, 2025).

• Practical and Faith-Based Guidance – Weekly videos featuring expert advice and insights on nutrition, exercise, and spiritual well-being.

What Can You Focus on for 40 Days?

Whatever your personal goals may be, this challenge provides the tools, encouragement, and community support to help you thrive. We won’t prescribe a one-size-fits-all plan—but we will explore The Daniel Plan and other trusted wellness approaches to help guide you.

Parents, are you looking for a way to keep your kids engaged in faith-filled fun all summer? We invite your children to be part of Monday Meet-Ups…a Summer 2025 Kid’s Weekly Discipleship Plan—an exciting and safe opportunity for kids to grow in their relationship with Christ while making new friends and enjoying active play!

Faith, Fun, and Fellowship

Throughout the summer, we will meet Monday evenings from 6:00 to 7:30 PM in the Family Life Center (FLC). With 12 weeks of connection and discipleship (excluding June 16 due to VBS), this program is designed to strengthen relationships with current students and welcome new children into an uplifting community.

Engaging Bible Lessons

Each gathering will begin with an interactive Bible study, focused on “Kid’s Travel Guide to the Lord’s Prayer”—an engaging curriculum designed to help children understand and practice prayer as a spiritual discipline. These age-appropriate lessons will provide a strong foundation for faith while making Scripture accessible and meaningful for young hearts.

Active & Fun Play

After our lesson, kids will enjoy structured recreation time, including indoor and outdoor games for all energy levels! Whether your child loves sports, group activities, or quieter games like cards and brain challenges, there’s something for everyone. Through fun and teamwork, students will build friendships and confidence in a safe and nurturing environment.

Supervision & Safety

Your child’s well-being is our priority! Clay and Hannah Hastings, alongside additional approved leaders, will ensure a secure and welcoming space for all participants. Our team is dedicated to making every child feel valued and loved, with guidance rooted in Christ-centered care.

Who Can Join?

This event is open to children in grades K-5, and we encourage PGBC students to bring friends and family! Spread the word through church announcements and social media to invite more young hearts into this faith-filled adventure.

3rd-5th graders, Join us August 5-8 at Look Up Lodge where we'll have a great week of fun, food, and faith. We are asking that everyone planning to go register and pay their $50 deposit by April 1. If participating in the fundraiser, your final total should come down quite a bit.

• Dynamic Bible Study: We’ll be diving into Adulting, a powerful study by Jonathan “JP” Pokluda, available through RightNow Media. This series covers important real-life topics like purpose, relationships, and responsibility, offering biblical wisdom and practical insights.

• Community & Connection: Meet new friends and engage in uplifting discussions about faith and life’s challenges.

• Free Pizza & Fellowship: Enjoy a laid-back evening with great food and meaningful conversations.

• Vision & Planning: Share your ideas for this new young adult group and explore the direction we’ll take together.

Memorial Day is coming soon. Our summer intern John William Eagle would like to help us celebrate any veterans or active military in your family. But we need your help. Please let the church know the name, rank, branch, and years anyone in your family served in the military. You can fill out the form on our website, drop the info in the box in the sanctuary entrance, or drop the info off at the church office. We invite you to include a picture too.

Let’s remember those who gave their life AND also all other veterans connected to our church this Memorial Day.

Join us for a small group this Spring. Our launch night is Sunday night February 2 at 5:30pm at Patterson Grove Baptist Church. Here's a few of the offerings we’ll have:
- Women’s Small Group - Studying “Be Who God Created You To Be” by Russ Bradley
- Men’s Small Group - Studying “Matthew: The Arrival of the King” by David Jeremiah
- Youth - Having Pizza Rolls and Chicken Nuggets on launch night.
- Children - Children are looking at what it means to serve others on mission.

Youth and Children don’t have to register. Men and Women joining an adult small group need to register so we have the correct number of books.

Join us for worship on Sanctity of Human Life Sunday on January 26th at 10am at Patterson Grove Baptist Church. We will look at Psalm 139 and see how God values all life.

They say that spiritual growth happens in circles much more effectively than in rows. That’s one of the reasons we believe in small groups. - Kingdom Man - A study by Tony Evans lead by Sonny Barts.
- 5 Love Language - A study by Gary Chapman lead by Glenn and Vickie Hicks.

Parents/Students, We need your help inviting your teacher(s) to Teacher Appreciation Sunday on Sunday September 8th at 10am. With the start of school, we want to pause in September to thank, pray for, and celebrate the teachers in our community.

Pickup an invite in the church office or at worship next Sunday. Students in higher grades may want to pickup 3-5 invites.

Tips:

- Write a personal note on each invite.

- Consider giving your teacher a little gift.

- Plan to sit with your teacher that Sunday.

- Take a selfie with your teacher.

- Share this post online to remind other parents, students, or grandparents.

Begin praying for your teacher(s) now. They do so much to serve students and we believe it’s critical that we thank, pray for, and celebrate them.

Note: Teachers, Assistant Teachers, Librarians, Administrators, Bus Drivers, etc are all welcome.

1) Serve North Elementary :: Sunday Aug 4th at 1pm —> We’ll work on a landscaping project at North to help staff get ready for the year and to welcome students and families as they return!

2) Serve Bethware Elementary :: Monday Aug 5th at 1pm —> Landscaping, painting, and maybe some window washing to serve the Bethware staff, kids, and families.

3) Serve the Servants :: Bring some needed supplies to worship Sunday to help the teams as they go out to serve.

Join our senior adults for our Senior Adult Summer Cookout on Wednesday, June 19th at 12:30pm. It will be held at Glenn and Vickie Hicks home at 406 Oak Grove Road in Kings Mountain.

We will have hot dogs, hamburgers, and chili to eat. Play a few games of corn hole or horseshoes with us.

Get to know our previous pastor, see family and friends, and celebrate what God has done throughout the history of Patterson Grove Baptist Church. Join us for Homecoming Sunday on June 2, 2024 at 10am. There will be special music for all ages, lots of new faces, Pastor Tim Hendrick is returning as our guest speaker, and we will have a covered dish lunch after the service in the Family Life Center.

Attention Senior Adults, Join us for a trip to the Daniel Boone Inn in Boone, NC on Wednesday May 15th at 8:45 am. We will enjoy lunch, a visit to the Mast General Store, and also visit with one of our missionaries visiting home from the Middle East. To register, sign-up on the form at the entrance to the sanctuary.

All senior adults are welcome to go with us to Strawberry Hill USA in Gaffney, SC. Meet at the church at 10:15am and leave at 10:30am. We will have lunch and homemade ice cream.
